What Kind of Paint Protection Works Best For You?
Paint Protection OptionsIn addition to paint correction services (think fixing scratches and swirl marks), Capitol Shine also offers a variety of paint protection options to meet the needs of each vehicle.Doesn't My Car Already Have a Kind of Clear Coat?
Yes. For the most part, every vehicle that has been produced since the 1980s has at least one layer of clear coat. When vehicles are being painted at the factory, a layer(s) of clear coat is applied on top of the color paint. This is done to help protect the paint to a certain level and is the reason why, many times, scratches can be buffed out without having to use touch-up paint - because the scratch is in the clear coat, not the actual paint.
When the scratch is too deep, however, it scratches the actual paint and that is when touch-up paint is required. The problem with factory clear coat is that not only is it a minor layer of protection, but it also has the tendency to fade and wear out over time. This is why wax or wax sealant is used. Wax helps add an extra barrier of protection and while wax works great, it is only temporary which is why you need to apply it every 3-4 months.
What are Capitol Shine's Protective Coatings?Advances in auto detailing has led to protective coatings. After any imperfections have been fixed in the paint, our paint protection product(s) are applied on top of that factory clear coat to provide greater protection for longer and also to help preserve the color. We offer two kinds of protection: coatings and film.Ceramic Pro
Ceramic Pro is not a wax or sealant, but a nano ceramic coating that bonds with the paint and is only removed by abrasion such as machine polishing. This coating also never needs to be waxed and is:
- Scratch resistant
- UV resistant
- Anti-corrosive
- Self cleaning
- Provides extreme gloss
- Contains hydrophobic properties
This product is available for the body, wheels, windshield and interior. We offer Ceramic Pro in a 2 year, 5 year and Lifetime warranty. Learn more about Ceramic Pro and the different packages we offer here.Opti-Coat Pro
Opti-Coat Pro is an American made protective coating. This is a popular option for those looking for an alternative to Ceramic Pro and still provides great protection against UV rays, marring, oxidation and more. This product is now available in 5 and 7 year warranties. Learn more about Opti-Coat Pro here.Paint Protection Film
We offer paint protection film for vehicles. Why would one choose film over a protective coating? Actually, the majority of our customers who receive film also have a protective coating applied on top of the film for even greater protection. The film we use actually increases the thickness of vehicle's body, which results in excellent protection against rock chips - the thicker the layer, the harder it is to penetrate the paint.Another reason our customers choose to wrap their vehicle in film is because of the variety of colors offered. Imagine changing your vehicle's color while preserving the original paint underneath. The film can be removed at a later time and return the vehicle to its factory color. We offer different packages of film wrapping for different areas of your vehicle. Find our packages on paint protection film here.
